    • 4/11/2014: Golden Gate Middle School 8th grader William Zuniga-Suares, along with his soccer team, earned a gold medal at the recent Special Olympics regional tournament in Fort Lauderdale!
    • 4/11/2014: The Barron Collier Jazz Band II received a Superior rating at the State Jazz Band Festival on March 28th and over 45 Superior medals through the solo and ensemble component.
    • 4/11/2014: Palmetto Ridge student Allison Schleutker recently completed the Arthrex Engineering shadow program. Congratulations, Allison!
    • 4/11/2014: Scholastic is awarding Highlands Elementary approximately $5,000 for use in its Media Center due to two very successful book fairs. Great job, Highlands!
    • 4/11/2014: Congratulations to the Barron Collier Majorettes who performed at the State MPA Festival over Spring Break. The team earned an overall Excellent rating.
    • 4/11/2014: Parkside Elementary "Princesses” recently completed a school “B-Fit” team-building initiative, completing Disney's Princess Enchanted 10K race. Congratulations staff members!
    • 4/11/2014: Thank you, Naples Alumnae Chapter of Pi Beta Phi! The group raised over $6,000 to support the non-fiction library collection at Shadowlawn Elementary School. In addition, students were each given a free book to take home!
    • 4/11/2014: Congratulations to Barron Collier High School Thespians! They received numerous accolades at the recent state festival including the Critic's Choice Award for Duet Scene in Opening Ceremonies with an audience of 5,000.
    • 4/11/2014: Naples High School Class of 1960 presented a plaque to the Class of 2014 to honor the memory of H.W. “Bubba” Asbell, principal of NHS from 1957-1962. Bubba's legacy will live on in the NHS Hall of Fame where the plaque will be displayed in perpetuity.
    • 4/4/2014: Palmetto Ridge High School Jazz Ensemble received STRAIGHT Superior ratings at the State Jazz MPA on March 28th. On April 8th, the Collier County Board of Commissioners will be forever proclaiming March 2014 as "Palmetto Ridge Band Month" thanks to the hard work and dedication of these fine young musicians.
    • 4/4/2014: Congratulations to the high school recipients of the Princeton Book Awards! They were honored at a recent luncheon at the Naples Yacht Club.
    • 4/4/2014: Pelican Marsh Elementary concluded their Sunshine State Readers Program. Julie Bolock’s fifth grade class and Colleen Steel’s third grade class had every student achieve the goal of reading all 15 of the chapter books!
    • 4/4/2014: An Honors Orchestra Concert for Middle and High School was held on March 14th at Gulf Coast High School. The students did an excellent job performing challenging pieces of music.
    • 4/4/2014: Golden Gate Middle School technology students recently enjoyed a college and careers field trip to Iberia Bank and gained greater insight into the workings of a financial business. Thank you to technology instructor Lenice Deluca and Iberia Bank for planning this excellent learning experience!
    • 4/4/2014: Golden Gate Middle also celebrated its annual multicultural day last month. Many thanks to Emma Gonzalez, GGM lead organizer, members of the Collier Advocates for Student Achievement, and students, faculty, and staff for creating a very special evening.

    • 4/4/2014: Top scorers of Lely Aviation Academy's FAA Exam completed a motorized glider flight with help and instruction from former Collier County Judge Ted Brousseau. Each student received a logbook endorsement for 0.5 hours of glider instruction due to their successful flight completion.
    • 3/21/2014: Last week, we shared that 15-year-old singer/songwriter Lizzie Sider made stops at seven of our elementary schools as a part of her Bullying Prevention School Assembly Tour. Great message!
    • 3/21/2014: For the first time in school history, Golden Gate High School had two bands perform at the FBA District Concert Band Music Performance Assessment. GGH was the only school in Southwest Florida to have two bands receive straight Superiors.
    • 3/21/2014: Former Minnesota Vikings and Baltimore Ravens center Matt Birk made a surprise visit to Shadowlawn Elementary School to promote the importance of literacy and encourage students to continue participating in the Greater Naples YMCA’s student reading contest. 
    • 3/21/2014: Big Cypress Elementary celebrated Family Math Night with 250 people in attendance.
    • 3/21/2014: Congratulations to Palmetto Elementary teacher Tiffany Rosenberger for earning funding for her “Hands on Math” project through the Donors Choose website.
    • 3/21/2014: A team of 20 Golden Gate High School JROTC cadets took part in “Passport to the Stars,” a gala event conducted by the Hope for Haiti group in our community.  
    • 3/14/2014: Congratulations to Lely High science coach Mary Marshall!  She has been nominated by one of her peers for the Techbook Times Teacher Spotlight.

    • 3/14/2014: Congratulations to the Barron Collier Wind Symphony!  They received straight A+’s from all the judges and a standing ovation from a packed audience during their latest assessment.
    • 3/14/2014: In news from Barron Collier, Broadway star Mark McVey, who performed the lead role as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables in 3,268 performances on Broadway and throughout the world, visited Todd Peterson’s Concert Choir class on Monday. 
    • 3/14/2014: First grade teacher Veronica Kochis of Parkside Elementary received a grant from for a classroom project called “Nook-ing Our Way Into a Great eBook!” 
    • 3/14/2014: Golden Gate Middle’s eighth grade science classes recently enjoyed a visit from the Naples-Marco Island Antique Automobile Club. 
    • 3/14/2014: This past Saturday, Corkscrew Middle, Cypress Palm Middle, Golden Gate Middle, and Immokalee Middle met at Golden Gate High for a middle school track quad meet.  The schools wish to share their appreciation to GGH staff for opening up their facilities. Great teamwork!

    • 3/14/2014: Congratulations to Palmetto Ridge student Daniel Quiroz who was selected to attend the Science Quest camp at the University of Florida.  The Science Quest camp immerses rising 10th grade students in various science disciplines to stimulate interest and appreciation for the range of college and career opportunities available in science.
