-
I will
tell an adult I trust if anything makes me feel scared, uncomfortable,
or confused.
-
I will
ask my parents or guardian before sharing my personal information.
I
won't meet in person with anyone I have first "met" online.

Literacy Facts and What We are Doing
to Combat Illiteracy: READING IS FUNdamental (RIF) |
So strong is the link between
literacy and being a useful member of society that some states use grade-level
reading statistics as a factor in projecting future prison construction.
- Bob Chase, President, National Education Association
44 million adults in the
U.S. can't read well enough to read a simple story to a child.- National
Adult Literacy Survey (1992) NCED, U.S. Department of EducationNaples High
School is the only high school south of Maryland to support a Reading Is
Fundamental (RIF) program. Our program, funded completely by donations
from the community, provides free books and dictionaries to students in
our Intensive Reading and English as a Second Language classes as well
as books for our in-house pre-school. Click on the "Reading
Planet" icon to find out more about RIF. Donations to keep the RIF
program going at Naples High are always welcome. Our address is listed
below. Volunteers to help us with RIF distributions are also appreciated.
